THE LUME Melbourne Has Brought Back Its Famous Van Gogh Experience With VR

Okay folks, Valentine’s may be over, but that doesn’t mean you can start slacking on your date night (or mate night) plans. Thankfully, THE LUME Melbourne has brought back its Van Gogh experience — and if you missed it last time, this is your final shot to see it before it’s gone.

Until June 1, 2025, you can immerse yourself in the works of Vincent van Gogh at THE LUME Melbourne. We’re talking cinematic, all-consuming, multi-sensory magic that lets you step inside Van Gogh’s greatest works like Starry Night, Sunflowers, and Café Terrace at Night.

The experience has had a serious glow-up, featuring a reimagined Sunflower Mirror Infinity Room, plus a slew of new interactive spaces. These include the Café Terrace 1888, a gallery cafe where you can sip and soak in the starry-lit vibes plus a one-of-a-kind VR experience.

Finding Vincent VR is not your average headset experience — it’s a shared, fully immersive adventure that lets you travel alongside Van Gogh’s brother, Theo, retracing Vincent’s journey from Paris to Provence. One moment, you’re walking through the bustling streets of Montmartre; the next, you’re standing in a golden wheat field under the same sun Vincent painted over a century ago. Sounds neat, right?

The experience is limited to 25 people at a time (so you don’t have to worry about bumping into anyone). You can add on the experience when purchasing your General Admission ticket.

For those wanting even more immersion, Live at THE LUME is bringing one-night-only music performances into the mix on the first Friday of each month. On May 2 will feature a vocal masterclass with two Victorian Opera singers adding an ethereal soundtrack to your wander through Vincent’s world.

That’s why every Friday from 5:30pm, Finding Vincent VR is FREE when you buy two tickets — so you and your date can dive into Van Gogh’s world at no extra cost. There’ll also be $15 cocktails waiting for you, because sipping under Van Gogh’s swirling skies is sure to beat another night at the pub.

Missed out last time? You know what to do. It’s on sale now for a limited time, so get in before the lights go out.

Visit THE LUME Melbourne’s website to book tickets now.

General Admission start at $29.90, with Finding Vincent VR available for $19.90.

Tickets for Live at LUME start from $89 per person. Doors open at 6:50pm and the event will run from 7pm until 9pm.
