- The Metropolitan Police Service says two police officers have been stabbed in central London and are currently being treated in hospital. A man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and assaulting an emergency worker
- London's Mayor Sadiq Khan says the stabbings are not terrorism-related, and that neither of the officers suffered life-threatening injuries

- At least seven people have died in floodwaters in central Italy. Entire towns have been inundated and rescue crews have been filmed using rafts to rescue people trapped on roofs
- Grammy-winning artist Cardi B has resolved a years-long criminal case stemming from brawls at New York City strip clubs by pleading guilty in a deal that requires her to perform 15 days of community service

- Roger Federer. The Swiss tennis champion announced overnight that he's retiring from professional competition after the Laver Cup later this month — the 41-year-old has been battling ongoing injuries for several years
- Blake Lively. US magazines are in overdrive about the 35-year-old's "reveal" that she's pregnant with her fourth child. Vogue claims she "surprised onlookers by showing off her pregnant belly, which she covered under a sequinned Valentino mini dress" at the Forbes Power Women’s Summit... but Lively hasn't actually explicitly commented at this stage to confirm, and neither has husband Ryan Reynolds
