What else is going on

  • Medibank has confirmed the criminals responsible for stealing customer data have released some of that information on a dark web forum
  • Climate change protesters have glued themselves to Andy Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup Cans and vandalised the artwork at the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra. A police spokesperson says no one has been arrested at this stage but anyone with info should come forward
  • The court case of the man accused of killing teenager Cassius Turvey has been adjourned until mid-January. The 21-year-old was remanded in custody
  • Virginia Giuffre, who recently settled a lawsuit in which she had claimed to have been sexually trafficked to Britain's Prince Andrew by Jeffrey Epstein has dropped a similar claim involving noted American attorney Alan Dershowitz

What Australia has been searching for online

  • Leslie Phillips. The British actor best known for his roles in the Carry On comedies and as the voice of the Sorting Hat in the Harry Potter movies has died aged 98.
  • REDcycle. The soft plastics recycling scheme operating at major Aussie supermarkets has been suspended after the company running it said it could no longer offload the material to recyclers.
