Terry Crews has put himself up for the role of King Triton in Disney’s forthcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.
The Brooklyn Nine-Ninestar apparently likes the idea of playing Ariel’s father in the kingdom of Atlantica, and posted a Photoshopped image of himself with a fishtail and a trident.
“Ariel’s Dad!!!! #ArielsGotTerry #AmericasGotTerry,” he wrote in the caption.
Fans were keen on the idea, with one responding: “This needs to happen.”
Casting for the movie is already underway, with actor and singer Halle Bailey – previously best-known as half of the Grammy-nominated R&B duo Chloe X Halle with her older sister – announced for the starring role of Ariel.
The 19-year-old said being cast as Ariel was a “dream come true”, with The Little Mermaid director Rob Marshall saying she “possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance – plus a glorious singing voice”.
Melissa McCarthy is rumoured to be a contender for the role of Ursula, to the displeasure of some who thought pop singer Lizzo would be perfect as the iconic villain.
Other stars rumoured for roles include Awkwafina and Room star Jacob Tremblay.
