The little-known Amazon Alexa hack parents can use to get Santa to wake kids up

Believe it or not, but Christmas is just weeks away and whilst it may seem like it was only June a few weeks ago, December 25 is coming around faster than you think.

And with it being December in just a few days, soon we will be hanging up our festive decorations and laying out some cookies and milk - and a few carrots too.

But if you happen to go on a late night drive or you're out walking the dog, you may have seen a few homes already lit up with Christmas trees carefully placed at the windows.

But whilst we wait there's a few things you can do to get into the festive spirit - and it's a neat little trick one user spotted.

Taking to Facebook's Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, one user shared with its 2.1 million members what she had found whilst scrolling through her Alexa settings.

Captioning her post she wrote: "At the moment, in the Alexa app, you can set it to either 'Alexa' or 'Hey Santa' and Santa will talk instead of Alexa."

Christmas is around the corner. (Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group.)

Once set up, you can use the feature for almost anything from a joke to a countdown and even waking the kids up - and ensure they keep themselves on Santa's good list this year.

In order to set this up, users can simply do the following according to the poster:

  1. Go onto the Alexa app on your phone and then click Menu
  2. Click on Settings, and then on Device Settings
  3. Pick the device that you want to change the wake word for
  4. At the bottom there is the option to turn on "Hey Santa"

And it seems others loved the Christmas hack with many people thanking her adding that their kids would love it - and soon more thanks began to flood the comment section with nearly 500 comments and over 100 likes.

One said: "If you have young kids ask Alexa to sing you a song my boys love the random songs she sings ones about eating worms they love it."

Another commented: "Have you asked it how many days until Christmas?? Santa speaks at the end."

"This is such as brilliant idea. Thanks for sharing, Tried it and kids love it" wrote a third.
