Arsenal transfer target Lucas Paqueta can learn an important lesson from his Lyon teammate Houssem Aouar this summer.
Paqueta has been heavily linked with a £50million move to the Emirates Stadium with the Gunners searching for a new midfielder to sign. Reports in France have suggested Mikel Arteta is a huge fan of Paqueta and is pushing to sign the midfielder as Arsenal continue their transfer business.
This Gunners have been in this position before with Paqueta's teammate, Houssem Aouar, and it's something the Brazilian can learn from as rumours of a move to Arsenal continue to circulate. Aouar was on the brink of sealing a dream move to north London before the Brazilian's move collapsed, with Arsenal still yet to renew their efforts to sign the French midfielder.

Aouar looks set to miss out on his dream move to the Premier League with Real Betis in pole position to sign the 24-year-old, two years after his move to the Emirates Stadium fell through. According to a new report from L'Equipe, the Spanish outfit have been pursuing Aouar for many months, and with the midfielder currently light on suitors, Betis' persistence and interest could see the move completed soon.
The French midfielder is said to be open to moving to La Liga, but he still has his heart set on a move to the Premier League and will take his time with a decision over his future. Aouar's situation should be seen as a clear warning to Paqueta and something the Brazilian can learn from with the Gunners currently interested in his services.
Aouar is looking to move away from Lyon with the Ligue 1 outfit ready to accept a deal in the region of £13million, a fee significantly less than what Arsenal were set to pay back in 2020. The 24-year-old revealed shortly after the saga that he set his sights on taking Lyon to the next level, but staying with the club looks to have dented his chances of moving to the Premier League.
Paqueta would be wise not to make a similar mistake to his Lyon teammate with Arteta keen to bolster his attacking options this summer. The Brazilian maestro registered 18 goal contributions in 43 appearances across all competitions last season and would add plenty of creativity and attacking threat to the Gunners' squad.
Arsenal have already added the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira to their ranks this summer and look set to add more players before the transfer deadline. football.london understands the north Londoners have stalled negotiations for Leicester star Youri Tielemans, but should rival interest from Manchester United become serious, then the Gunners would look to wrap up a deal for the Belgian international swiftly.
