The lesser known product recalls today endangering hundreds of Irish customers - from BMW motorbikes to plugs and toys

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has published several recall notices which affect hundreds of customers in Ireland.

Although things like food recalls and venue closure notices are often front and centre for consumers to follow, some of these smaller recalls can go unnoticed.

From the danger of causing accidents on recalled motorbikes, to toys posing a cancer risk to children, here are all the March 30, 2023 recalls issued by the CCPC.

BMW

BMW Motorrad is carrying out a recall of BMW S 1000 R and S 1000 XR Motorcycles.

The affected products were manufactured from April 3, 2019, to December 20, 2022.

BMW S 1000 R (BMW Ireland)

According to officials: "The risk reported to the CCPC is that of Injuries as following a software update, any custom settings for 'Dynamic Pro' mode are reset to factory settings (take-off detection is disabled) without the customer being automatically informed of this reset.

"As a result, the front wheel lift will neither be suppressed nor controlled, increasing the risk of an accident."

There are approximately 30 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.

What to do

If you purchased one of these products, you should discontinue use immediately and check if your vehicle is affected you should visit the BMW Motorrad Recall Search Page and type in your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

Amazon Toy

YCOO – Silverlit Electric Robo Kombat Balloon Puncher Toy (CCPC)

A safety issue has been identified with a toy sold on Amazon called YCOO – Silverlit Electric Robo Kombat Balloon Puncher Toy.

According to a warning published by officials: "The risk reported to the CCPC is that of Chemical as a child may be exposed to nitrosamines when touching and / or putting the balloons in the mouth.

"Some nitrosamines may increase the risk of cancer if children are exposed to above acceptable levels."

The brand is YCOO – Silverlit. The type/number of model is Item No. 88038, Serial No. PG-88038-IN-00. The batch number is 182B0A.

The barcode is 4891813880387 and there are two Amazon ASIN numbers which are B089H1PV25 and B08DNZJ2CP.

The product was sold online through Amazon platform. There are approximately 245 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.

What to do

If you purchased one of these products you should stop using the product immediately and keep it out of the reach of children.

You can also contact Amazon to see if there are any remedies available to you. This can be done via your user account on Amazon.

Amazon plug

Caltecx YZS-800 USB output adapter (CCPC)

A safety issue has been identified with a Caltecx YZS-800 USB output adapter sold on the Amazon platform.

"The product presents a risk of electric shock as the product does not meet the relevant standards leading to the risk of electrocution," according to the CCPC.

The brand is CALTECX. The type/number of model is YZS-800. There are two Amazon ASIN numbers which are B0BR8TZCWR and B0BRX67QP8, and the batch number and the barcode are unknown.

The product was sold online through the Amazon platform. There are approximately 6 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.

What to do

If you purchased one of these products you should stop using the product immediately.

You can then contact Amazon to see if there are any remedies available to you. This can be done via your user account on Amazon.

Amazon plug-in heater

A safety issue has been identified with a Lesvtu Electric Portable Plug in Heater-Low Energy Mini Plug in Wall Heater with Adjustable Thermostat and 12H Timer Led Display, Energy Efficient Small Ceramic Fan Heater for Office Home Room Bathroom sold on the Amazon platform.

The CCPC says: "The product presents a risk of electric shock, fire and explosion as counterfeit fuses have been used in the plug for the heater."

The brand is Lesvtu, however, the model number, Amazon ASIN, batch number, and the barcode are unknown.

The product was sold online through the Amazon platform. There are approximately 8 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.

What to do

If you purchased one of these products, discontinue use immediately. Contact Amazon to see if there are any remedies available to you. This can be done via your user account on the Amazon platform.
