The Leeds park four miles outside the city that everyone loves

Leeds has a number of popular parks and green spaces dotted around. Many of the well-known ones such as Roundhay are visited by millions of people every year.

Recently, we visited another park in Leeds that deserves as much praise as Roundhay. Middleton Park, located just a few miles outside the city centre is beloved by many residents.

The park covers 470 acres and has a cafe, bowling greens, a playground and a fishing lake. Following our visit, many residents were saying how much they love "Miggy Park", reminiscing about the attraction over the years.

Louise said: "It’s the park that ‘made’ me chose Middleton to live. It’s fab."

The park is pretty expansive, as well as the traditional walking paths and cafes, the park also boasts wide open green spaces which are almost entirely uninterrupted by people.

Karen said it's a place where she can find peace, adding: "I live just a 10 min walk away and I visit there frequently. It's my go to place for my inner peace too. I spent alot of time myself walking around there since last year."

71-year-old Denise, used to visit the park with her mum and spoke of the different trees and flowers she would see as a young girl.

Denise said: "My Mam used to take us there, we used to walk through cross Flatt's park over Dewsbury Road and then the adventure started we would walk through farmer Wards field, up onto the clearings where if Leeds United scored you could hear all the fans cheering.

"Then through the main woods, I remember all big ferns growing huge trees lots of rhodendendrons bushes, all different colours it was a very long walk but then we would get to the park where the swings were different and an umbrella roundabout and a little boating lake, then we would walk all the way back and the woods were covered in bluebells which you could pick then, I loved it .

"Thank you for reminding me, beautiful memories of me being a little girl, I'm 71 now."

The park is truly a stunning place, if you are looking to get out of the city but don't want to travel far it's definitely worth a visit.
