People in some parts of Greater Manchester woke up to snow this morning, with temperatures dropping to as low as -1C overnight. Just days earlier, there were highs of almost 20C and the region enjoyed glorious sunshine and clear skies.
Residents in parts of Tameside, Oldham, Stockport and Manchester reported waking up to the white stuff this morning. It caused some disruption on the roads, with heavy traffic on a section of the M62 between junction 23 for Huddersfield and junction 21 for Milnrow due to heavy snow on the road this morning.
In a tweet, Transport for Greater Manchester said: "It's a cold start across GM and snow is falling, particularly over eastern areas. Take extra care on roads and pavements and allow extra travel time. Now, the snowfall has stopped and has instead been replaced with sunny spells for most areas.

As the day progresses, the Met Office has said to expect scattered showers this afternoon, giving a 'wintry mix' over hills. Sleet is forecast in Oldham at 4pm this afternoon followed by a light snow shower at 7pm.
It will feel cold in the brisk north-easterly wind, with maximum temperatures today of 8C. As for tonight, any showers will soon 'die out' through the evening, leaving a dry night with 'largely clear skies.'
It's set to turn cold and frosty again overnight, with minimum temperatures of a chilly -3C. More wintry showers are predicted for Friday, as the day kicks off with a cold and frosty start, accompanied by some sunny spells.
A few showers will develop by the afternoon which 'may give some wintriness over high ground.' The maximum temperature will be 9 C. Meanwhile the weekend will be mainly dry, despite some showers early Saturday morning.
These will clear to a 'largely dry and bright afternoon.' There will be a frosty start Sunday, keeping dry with bright spells.
