Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons recently caused quite the stir when he decided to make some eye-opening moves on social media.
Simmons, who is seeking a long-term extension before playing out the final year of his rookie deal, first scrubbed any mention or photo of the Titans on Instagram, while also unfollowing his team.
Then, Simmons went on to delete both his Twitter and Instagram accounts. Big Jeff has since reactivated the latter, but it still has no mention of the Titans, and he’s still completely dark on Twitter.
In what can be construed as a good sign, Simmons did take part in an event with the Titans on Thursday night that also included general manager Ran Carthon.
The whole Jeffery Simmons is upset with the @Titans story line must not be that serious if he’s doing an event with Ran and Mike Keith tonight at Nissan. @TicTacTitans pic.twitter.com/Aklmo2HunM

We’ve seen athletes take the same or a similar step as Simmons, with Kyler Murray and Deebo Samuel scrubbing their socials of their teams before ultimately re-upping with them.
However, A.J. Brown scrubbed mention of Tennessee in his Twitter bio before being traded last year, so there’s that.
Assuming the Titans aren’t blowing it up for a full rebuild, there’s no way the team doesn’t get something done with the star defender. Even if they do rebuild, Simmons, 25, is young enough to keep in such a situation.
The only way Simmons isn’t in the two-tone blue long term is if the Titans use him in a package to trade up for the No. 1 overall pick this year, something that is highly unlikely but can’t be totally ruled out.
