For most NFL mock drafts, there’s a Big 3 QBs of sorts that’s ballooned into a Big 4 with all the J.J. McCarthy buzz.
One of those quarterbacks is Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels, who went No. 2 overall to the Washington Commanders in our latest NFL mock draft from Christian D’Andrea. But in a new mock draft from Yahoo Sports, Nate Tice and Charles McDonald have Daniels dropping all the way down to No. 11, where they have the New England Patriots (who have traded down with the Minnesota Vikings).
So why would that happen? Here’s the take from Yahoo on that drop:
There is a LOT of smoke about Jayden Daniels ending up at this No. 2 selection, but I’m holding firm that Maye, who is my 1A to Williams’ 1B, will be the second player off the board. …
The Patriots trade back and stop Jayden Daniels’ fall down the draft board. They’re not set up well to support a rookie quarterback, but the financial risk lessens at this point in the draft and Daniels will give them a floor to at least be a quality rushing team.
