Here's a quick wrap of each Australian jurisdiction's latest COVID-19 statistics for Friday, August 19.

New South Wales

There have been 22 COVID-19-related deaths reported in the state in the past day.

There are 1,986 people in hospital, including 56 in intensive care.

There were 6,899 new cases reported.

Victoria

The state has reported 27 COVID-19 deaths in the past 24 hours.

There are 514 people in hospital with the virus, including 27 in ICU and eight requiring ventilation.

There are 3,857 new cases.

Australian Capital Territory

One person has died with COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

There are 124 people hospitalised with COVID-19 and three people are in intensive care, with one person ventilated.

The ACT reported 258 new cases.

Tasmania

Two people have died with COVID-19 in Tasmania in the latest reporting period.

There are 58 people in hospital with the virus and two in ICU.

The state recorded 402 new infections.

Queensland

The state has recorded 14 deaths in 24 hours and 2,746 new cases.

There are 419 people in hospital, with 15 patients in intensive care.

Mutations in the COVID-19 virus continue to pose a risk.
