Coronavirus infection rates have gone up in seven boroughs of Greater Manchester. The weekly rates have fallen in three areas.
Trafford continues to have the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester. The borough recorded a rate of 808.2 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending March 28, according to the latest data from the UK Health Security Agency.
The lowest infection rate is in Oldham. The rates in the borough stand at 429.2 cases per 100,000 people.
In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 609.8 cases per 100,000 population. The infection rate in the region is lower than the national average, which is 840.5 cases per 100,000 people.
A total of 17,292 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on March 28. The Greater Manchester weekly total has increased by 716 cases compared to the previous week, which means the infection rate was up four per cent in the last week.
The infection rate is lower than the national average in all ten local authorities in Greater Manchester.
Hospital admissions
In the week ending on March 27, a total of 726 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is 159 more than the week before, a rise of 28 per cent.
On Tuesday March 29, there were 15 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is one more than a week earlier.

Deaths
In the week ending March 28, a total of 33 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is 13 more than the week before.

Cases reported in each of the ten boroughs
In Trafford , there were 1,920 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending March 28, which is 35 fewer than the previous seven days.
Trafford has the highest infection rate in the region. The infection rate in Trafford is down slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is down by two per cent.
Oldham , which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 1,020 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending March 28, which is six more than the previous seven days. The coronavirus infection rate in Oldham is now 429.2 cases per 100,000 people and is up by one per cent week-on-week.
In Bolton , the number of cases is up by 17 per cent compared to the previous week. It leaves the infection rate at 500.3 cases per 100,000 population.
There were 1,442 positive Covid-19 tests in Bolton in the week ending March 28. That was 211 more than the previous seven days.
Rochdale is an area where the trend is up. The latest infection rate here is 482.0 cases per 100,000 people.
There were 1,078 cases recorded in Rochdale, which is 105 more than the previous week - a rise of 11 per cent.
There were 2,326 positive tests over the last week in Stockport , which is 28 more than in the previous week. The week-on-week trend in Stockport is up by one per cent and the latest infection rate is 790.6 cases per 100,000 people.
There was a rise of two per cent in cases in Manchester over the week ending March 28, and the infection rate is now 562.5 cases per 100,000 population. Manchester recorded 3126 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, and that is 70 more than the previous week.
The trend is down in Tameside , where there were 1,429 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending March 28, which is 35 fewer than the previous seven days. That is down by two per cent compared to the previous week. The latest infection rate in Tameside is 629.2 cases per 100,000 people, which is lower than the national average.
In Salford , the latest infection rate is 661.2 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases has gone up by 11 per cent.
A total of 1,737 people tested positive for Covid in Salford over the seven days ending on March 28, which is 174 more than the week before.
Wigan recorded 2,120 coronavirus cases, which is 281 more than in the previous seven days.
The latest infection rate in Wigan is 641.0 cases per 100,000 people and that is up 15 per cent week-on-week.
Bury saw a total of 1094 cases in the week ending March 28, which is 89 fewer than the previous week. That is a fall of eight per cent.
