Coronavirus infection rates are continuing to fall in all ten boroughs of Greater Manchester, the latest data shows. The most recent figures from the UK Health Security Agency show that Trafford continues to have the highest transmission rate, while Oldham has the lowest.
In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate now stands at 440.2 per 100,000 people. This is lower than the national average of 577.6.
A total of 12,483 people tested positive for coronavirus across the region in the week ending on April 4. This has decreased by 4832 cases compared to the previous week, which means the infection rate was down by 28 per cent.
Hospital admissions
In the week ending on April 3, a total of 801 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is 75 more than the week before, a rise of 10%.
On Tuesday April 05, there were 14 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is one fewer than a week earlier.

Deaths
In the week ending April 4, a total of 39 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is 4 fewer than the week before.
Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 968,809 confirmed coronavirus cases in Greater Manchester. There has been a total of 9,004 deaths.
Cases reported in each of the ten boroughs
In Rochdale, the latest infection rate stands at 389 cases per 100,000. There were 870 cases recorded, which is 212 fewer than the previous week - a fall of 20 per cent.
In Trafford, there were 1305 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 4, which is 614 fewer than the previous week. The infection rate is down slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is down by 32 per cent.
There was a fall of 19 per cent in cases in Bolton and the infection rate is now 403.1. The borough recorded 1162 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, and that is 281 fewer than the previous week.
There were 1547 positive tests over the last week in Stockport, which is 781 fewer than in the previous week. The week-on-week trend t is down by 34 per cent and the latest infection rate is 525.8.
The trend is down in Bury, where there were 860 positive Covid-19 tests, which is 239 fewer than the previous seven days. That is down by 22 per cent compared to the previous week and the latest infection rate is 451.
Oldham recorded 815 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 4, which is 213 fewer than the previous week. The infection rate is now 343 and is down by 21 per cent week-on-week.
In Tameside, the latest infection rate is 489.6 and the number of cases has gone down by 22 per cent. A total of 1112 people tested positive for Covid, which is 317 fewer than the week before.
Salford saw a total of 1129 cases, which is 608 fewer than the previous week and a fall of 35 per cent. The most recent coronavirus infection rate is now 429.8.
In Manchester, the number of cases is down by 30 per cent compared to the previous week - leaving the infection rate at 393.2. There were 2185 positive Covid-19 tests, which was 945 fewer than the previous week.
Wigan recorded 1498 coronavirus cases, which is 622 fewer than in the previous seven days. The latest infection rate in Wigan is 453 and that is down 29 per cent week-on-week.
