We’re taking a look at a lot of NFL mock drafts as we get close to the official draft order being finalized, but we haven’t talked much about mock trades for the 2024 draft.
Specifically: If the Chicago Bears get the top pick thanks to their trade with the Carolina Panthers, do they use it on a top QB and trade current quarterback Justin Fields?
It’s a good question. In the latest mock draft from our Christian D’Andrea, he had the Bears take QB Drake Maye out of North Carolina with the top pick.
In CBS Sports’ latest mock, Chris Trapasso has the Raiders trading for Fields, with Las Vegas sending Chicago back a third-rounder and a conditional third in 2025 that could become a second. Not bad! Then it’s USC QB Caleb Williams to the Bears with the top pick:
While I don’t think this is a lock, we should of course entertain the possibility of Williams going No. 1 to Chicago.
