Everyone is screaming for Season 2 of HBO’s The Last of Us, but it’s probably a few years away.
During an interview with The Jonathan Ross Show, actress Bella Ramsey, who plays Ellie in HBO’s The Last of Us, explained that while filming for Season 2 should begin later in 2023 – it will not premiere anytime soon (thanks, The Independent).
“It will be a while,” Ramsey said. “I think we’ll probably shoot at the end of this year and the beginning of next. So it’ll probably be at the end of 2024, early 2025.”
Ramsey’s co-star Pedro Pascal recently hinted that shooting for Season 2 might begin this year, though both actors suggest the details are still up in the air. At any rate, don’t expect to reunite with Ellie and Joel for a while.
What we do know about Season 2 is it’ll cover The Last of Us Part 2‘s storyline, though only partially – HBO will need multiple seasons to adapt that game, considering it’s usually around 25 hours long for a first-time playthrough. There’ll also be a lot more infected for those eager for extra mush zombie fun – which is most of us, in fairness.
