Less than a week remains until The Last of Us Part 1 comes out. As such, we’re well overdue for one final teaser ahead of time.
On Wednesday, Naughty Dog released the launch trailer for The Last of Us Part 1. It primarily shows off several iconic moments from the original game, but with that shiny current-generation graphical paint. As a heads up: maybe don’t watch this if you’re looking to avoid any spoilers. There’s nothing too major revealed in the video, but still!
Arguably the most impressive shots are those where Ellie takes control in a dilapidated shopping mall. Ice shimmers with chilly realism that wasn’t possible back in the PS3 days. Even without a direct comparison, it’s easy to see how much better the presentation is on PS5.

The Last of Us Part 1 releases on Sept. 2, 2022, for PS5. There’s also a PC version coming, but it’ll arrive at a later yet-to-be-announced date. It’s strange that they’re called this a ‘launch trailer’ over a week from release, right?
Sony is going hard on multiplatform releases lately, putting out fantastic ports of Spider-Man: Remastered and God of War earlier this year.
