Everyone is wondering when HBO’s The Last of Us will premiere, but it won’t be soon.
In an interview with Deadline, HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys stated that fans likely have a year’s wait ahead of them.
“It’s not going to air in 2022 — they are still shooting in Canada. I imagine you will see it in 2023,” Bloys said. “I have seen some early episodes and I’m very excited, [Craig Mazin] did Chernobyl for us, he is a fantastic writer and director. What I’ve seen looks amazing, so I’m excited for it, but it will not be in 2022.”
In recent months, there have been several high-profile castings for HBO’s The Last Of Us. Nick Offerman, best known for Parks and Recreation, and Euphoria regular Storm Reid will play Bill and Riley, respectively.

Besides that single promotional set photo featuring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey that came out last fall, there’s not much news about The Last of Us adaptation. We know Naughty Dog is heavily involved, which every longtime fan surely wants to hear. Hopefully, the studio will make sure HBO’s The Last of Us ends up as one of the better video game adaptations.
