After miraculously turning things around this past season and going from mediocre to a championship contender, the Los Angeles Lakers have plenty of optimism right now.
After they remade their roster with multiple midseason trades, they made a somewhat unexpected run to the Western Conference Finals. As a result, their expectations for the 2023-24 season are rather high.
Los Angeles’ season ended with a sweep at the hands of the eventual NBA champion Denver Nuggets in the conference finals. According to Shams Charania, the two teams will face off again to open up the upcoming regular season in the Mile High City (h/t Lakers Daily).
JUST IN: Opening Night schedule for the 2023-24 NBA season Oct. 24 on TNT, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium:
– Los Angeles Lakers @ Denver Nuggets
– Phoenix Suns @ Golden State Warriors— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) August 10, 2023
While many are currently picking the Nuggets to win it all again, the Lakers are considered by many to have a real shot at taking home their 18th world championship.
A win over Denver on opening night would be a powerful statement from the Purple and Gold as far as their title hopes for the new season.
