The L Word: Generation Q has been cancelled by Showtime after just three seasons.
The network decided not to renew the show for a fourth season just two months after the latest episode aired, with fans slamming the decision as a "mistake".
Viewers have taken to Twitter to share their frustrations, with one person writing: "What a mistake. What. A. Mistake."
Another said: "They cancelled the L Word Generation Q??? God damn it nooo I loved the representation of all these different characters!!"
"We need The Real L word back okay idk why this is so hard to understand," a third fan tweeted, while another joked: "i just woke up and the l word gen q has been cancelled now, lesbians can’t have anything ever."
No Showtime programmes have been renewed since it was announced back in January that the network will be integrated into Paramount+ later this year.
However, viewers needn't be too disappointed as The L Word franchise looks set to continue on Showtime.
According to Deadline, The L Word: New York (working title) is in development and will be a reboot of the original series.
The show is thought to be being developed with the 2004 series' creator Ilene Chaiken expected to be involved in some capacity.
The L Word: Generation Q was a continuation of the original series which aired on Showtime from 2004 to 2009.
It followed the lives of characters such as Bette Porter (Jennifer Beals), Alice Pieszecki (Leisha Hailey), Shane McCutcheon (Moennig) and Sophie Suarez (Rosanny Zayas) as they experienced love, heartbreak, setbacks and success in Los Angeles.
Generation Q also saw some surprise cameos from celebrity guests.
Back in January, Selling Sunset star Chrishell Strause and her partner G-Flip made a special guest appearance in the season three finale.
The loved-up couple surprised viewers as they showed up during a party scene in the drama-comedy, with the pair appearing as themselves.
