The Kieran Tierney to Man City transfer scenario that could see Celtic miss out on ANY Arsenal sell-on

Celtic could miss out on any sell-on fee from Kieran Tierney if a reported straight swap with Manchester City comes to fruition.

Tierney has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates following the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko and while the Scotland star has been reinstalled recently due to the Ukrainian's injury, it is widely expected he will go into next season as Mikel Arteta's second choice right-back if he stays in North London. That has led to rife speculation he could leave with cash-rish Newcastle frequently tipped as his next logical step.

Bayer Leverkusen have also been mentioned as an option but it's now reported that Treble-chasing Manchester City could throw a curveball into the mixer. According to Football Transfers, Pep Guardiola's team are keen on Tierney and are "in talks" with Arsenal over a straight swap for Joao Cancelo, who is currently on loan at Bayern Munich.

Celtic are due 15 per cent of any fee Arsenal bank for Tierney as part of the £30m move that took him to the Premier League. But if the Gunners waive a fee in exchange for a player then the Parkhead side would come up dry.

City currently lack a natural, established left-back and opted to start with a back three in their 4-0 demolition of Real Madrid that sent them into the Champions League final. They have Spanish youngster Sergio Gomez but it was Jack Grealish who started on the left of an unconventional four-man midfield in front of the three-man defence.

Tierney would fill that gap while it would also provide them a means of offloading Cancelo who has fallen out with boss Guardiola. He played left-back for them earlier in the season before his loan move to Germany.
