The Kardashians' new show trailer blasted as family accused of cultural appropriation

The new trailer for The Kardashians has been branded "hateful".

The famous family - Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner - star in the promotional video for their highly-anticipated Hulu series where they appeared in glass cages.

But fans are not happy with the choice of Nina Simone's version of Feeling Good being selected as the backing track for the advert, claiming it was cultural appropriation.

Cultural appropriation is the inappropriate or unacknowledged adoption of an element or elements of one culture or identity by members of another culture or identity - something the Kardashian-Jenner clan have faced accusations of before.

Many took aim at the song being used after streaming giant Disney + released the clip on Twitter.

"Using music by Nina Simone for anything associated with this family is just hateful and disrespectful," one wrote.

Another chimed in: "And releasing this during Black History Month??"

"Nina Simone would embarrass them so badly their great great great grandchildren’s children wouldn’t be able to stand up for them. Don’t use her for these birds," a third added.

"Using Nina Simone’s song? DISGUSTING," another wrote.

Fans have hit out over the choice of music for the trailer and that it launched during Black History Month (Hulu)

The song is seen as a celebration of liberation, which fans felt was inappropriate to be used to promote the reality tv show.

Some micro-bloggers also mentioned that the family had previously been accused of cultural appropriation as well as alleged racist comments in the past.

After months, the premiere date of the new series on Hulu was announced with a trailer that promised that "all walls will be shattered".

The new episodes will air from April 14 and fans have been told to expect something very different from the family.
