The Junk Food Experiment on ITV: When does it start? Who's in the cast? What you need to know

Get ready to question your food choices!

The Junk Food Experiment aims to draw attention to the dangers around eating large amounts of fast food - and its using a bunch of famous faces as guinea pigs.

The extreme scientific experiment will see stars put their bodies on the line to test out the impacts of binging on junk food.

Here is everything you need to know about The Junk Food Experiment:

21 Days: Stars will chow down on junk food for just under a month as part of the experiment (ITV / Twofour Productions)

What will happen?

The 90-minute experiment will see celebrities overindulge in a variety of fast food including burgers, fried chicken and pizza for lunch and dinner.

They will eat each of the foods for a week at a time pushing them to increase their calories by 50 per cent more than they need, in a bid to mimic what would happen if they chose that lifestyle long-term.

Every seven days they will undergo a full-body MOT made up of over 60 medical tests to monitor the impacts, under the watchful eye of dietary expert Dr Michael Mosley.

Taking part: Six stars will appear on the show (ITV /Twofour Productions)

Viewers will be kept up-to-date from the stars themselves as they vlog their experience throughout the course of the 21 days.

Who is taking part?

Six familiar faces have volunteered to push their bodies to the limit by participating on the show.

Stars set to appear include singer Peter Andre, Olympic athlete Tessa Sanderson, Coronation Street star Hayley Tamaddon, Made in Chelsea’s Hugo Taylor, The Chase brainbox Shaun Wallace, and Conservative MP Nadine Dorries.

When is it on?

The Junk Food Experiment is on ITV at 9pm on Wednesday.
