*** WARNING: Semi-spoilers ahead ***
Joker 2 — titled Joker: Folie à Deux — is being described by viewers as a huge swing and a miss, with many lambasting the controversial ending scene in particular.
I’m not going to spoil the ending scene for you — go watch the film! I don’t care what the critics say, it’s actually super fun and jaw-dropping at parts — but all you need to know for this story is that a major revelation occurs in the final scene, involving actor Connor Storrie‘s character.

Storrie plays an Arkham Asylum inmate who is imprisoned alongside Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix).
The film comes to a dramatic conclusion with an interaction between Storrie’s character and Arthur Fleck and it’s been panned by fans and critics alike, with some die-hard DC fans describing it as a “betrayal”.

He told TMZ: “I wasn’t even considering what that could mean or where it could go,” the actor said. “Obviously the Joker has a huge following. I’d even say cult following. I just couldn’t believe I was there and what I was doing. It was so under wraps. I didn’t know anything else about the movie except that part in it. They were very serious. I didn’t say anything to anyone for two years.”
“It was polarising before the movie even came out, which I think is a good thing. When it was announced that it was a musical people from the jump were like, ‘What?’ I was like that, too. What does that even mean or look like? Especially because the first one was so raw and grimy. It was polarizing before it was even seen. The reaction makes sense. I can’t speak for anyone like Todd but they knew that was the case, too. You don’t make such a big swing like that without knowing it gives people the opportunity to not get behind your choices.”

While you’d think the actor would be bawling like a baby over the hideous reviews, and the fact that the movie bombed at the box office with a piss poor $37 million domestic opening, he’s actually not mad at all about how things turned out.
Storrie argued that he’d “rather things be polarising than things be boring or squeaky clean” and praised director and co-writer Todd Phillips “for having the balls to make such a bold swing, especially knowing there’s fanatics following Joker and the praise the first movie got. I am not shocked people are either pro or against what goes down in it.”
Well, at least you’ve got a smile on your face! That’s what the movie’s all about, right?
Joker 2 is in cinemas now and as I said earlier, it’s actually a super fun cinematic experience. Take your mates and go see it, if nothing else than to have a good laugh.
