It’s been long time coming but, after more than a decade, the Jets will finally make their return to Sunday Night Football, as announced during Thursday’s 2023 schedule release.
For Jets fans, who haven’t seen their team play an SNF matchup since 2011, the countdown to facing the reigning Super Bowl champion Chiefs in Week 4 and Raiders in Week 10 will likely feel like an eternity, albeit one with an exciting build-up with Aaron Rodgers in the fold.
The Jets’ social media team summed up the big news with a play on a now-classic meme centered around a scene from Titanic featuring an older version of character Rose Bukater saying the line, “It’s been 84 years.” Instead of Rose’s memorable quote, however, the Jets echoed the thoughts of fans everywhere by replacing the line with, “It’s been 12 years…”
Given New York’s splashy offseason, the start to the ’23 season—and those two SNF games—can’t get here soon enough for Gang Green. Hopefully for Rodgers and Co., the team’s appearances go better than NY’s last SNF tilt: a 37–16 loss to the Patriots.
