The Full Moon in Cancer will rise today, Tuesday 14 January and reach its peak potency at around 9:30am.
What will happen?
As the full moon lands in pensive Cancer — which, mind you, is ruled by the moon — the focus will be on our emotional needs. More specifically, emotional baggage that you’ve been carrying will be brought to the forefront and you’ll need to unpack whatever is troubling you and find a resolution in order to move on.
This is nothing to be afraid of, in fact, it’s actually a golden opportunity.
The reason why hidden traumas come to light during full moons is to help us sort out what’s going on in the old noggin’ that we may either be unaware of or have been intentionally neglecting, and in doing so, we’re allowing it to mess with us on a deeper level.

What is the Wolf Moon?
This particular Full Moon is ultra special as it’s a Wolf Moon.
Named by Native American tribes based on how wolves howl during January, the Wolf Moon is believed to carry nurturing and protective energy, which partners well with the January Full Moon in Cancer, which is all about healing old wounds.
What should I do? Any rituals for the January Cancer Full Moon?
The best way to tap into the Cancer Full Moon is to perform any rituals relating to emotional healing.
Binding ritual
Popular culture has led us to believe that witches often cast hexes and curses on people who do them dirty. The truth is, this will create a hell of a lot of bad karma for you (whatever you send out, you get back times three!). - Cord or ribbon.
- Scissors.
- Something that represents what’s upsetting you (could even be the name of a person or situation on paper).
Method:
- Take the ribbon and tie it around the item as you focus heavily on the matter that’s plaguing you. It’s very important that you bind with intention, so do some deep reflection as you’re going.
- Continue wrapping the cord around the item until it’s completely covered.
- Cut the cord — again, with intent! — and tie it like a bow.
- Keep it in a dark space in your home.
