The Jaguar Type 00 Doesn't Even Look Real On the Road

Jaguar turned heads when it debuted the Type 00 Concept last December in Miami. Jaguar's official photos showed the large, blocky concept in stylized renderings. To the untrained eye, you'd think the cars weren't even real, but computerized models. Turns out, it looks just the same in real life.

Now, we're getting a new look at the concept in public, in action on an actual street. And you know what? It still looks weird as hell. The matte blue exterior almost has a light-absorbing quality to it. Depending on the angle, there's very little to see in the way of exterior detail. Then again, this car doesn't have much exterior detail.

In addition to the above video, Jaguar shared a slathering of photos on its Instagram account. The car recently made a surprise appearance at Paris Fashion Week, chauffeuring Barry Keoghan, who climbs out of the passenger side. You might know Keoghan from his role in 2017's The Killing of a Sacred Deer, or if you're a Sabrina Carpenter fan, as the embarrassing boyfriend in the music video for Please Please Please.

It's unclear if there's some collab happening with Jaguar and Keoghan, but the British brand is certainly keen to present its large EV concept as a work of art in the automotive sector. The car premiered during Miami Art Week, and Paris Fashion Week is arguably the biggest fashion event of the year. For Paris, Jaguar ditched the pink exterior for a shade it calls French Ultramarine. To our eye, it's a far better look with a distinct electric blue vibe, albeit muted in matte instead of gloss.

The color accentuates the Type 00's minimalist exterior, which is virtually featureless save for rectangular brass ingots mounted low behind the front wheel arches. The fastback roof doesn't have a rear window—cameras are used to see what's happening behind the car. Butterfly doors open to reveal more minimalism with the interior, namely a pair of seats with two digital displays and a spine bisecting the greenhouse front-to-back. In place of the rear window is a powered panel that opens for access to the cargo area.

The Type 00 (pronounced zero-zero) Concept previews Jaguar's long-awaited new production car, which is expected to debut by the end of this year.
