With most couples may choosing to celebrate the day with a candle-lit meal or a trip to their local cinema, they could be enjoying a romantic road trip together.

Tim Alcock from LeaseCar.uk said: “With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, it’s usually a rush to book a table at your favourite restaurant or to order a bouquet of roses at the last minute.

“But to make the most of the special day more affordably, we’ve discovered routes across the country where lovers can enjoy a romantic day together taking in some of Britain’s most breathtaking sights."

The Three Lochs Forest Drive in Stirling is a seven-mile stretch that is a relaxing trip along the A281, that passes not one but three picturesque lochs – Lochan Reòidhte, Loch Drunkie and Loch Achray.

Surrounded by breathtaking Trossachs scenery, it's a stunning way to enjoy the sunset together, while the woodland around the trip can offer magical glimpses of deer and even red squirrels, while birds of prey such as osprey can often be glimpsed hunting on the lochs themselves.

There are plenty of walks and picnic spots on the route too should you need to pull over to stretch your legs or refuel.
