The idyllic village just an hour from Glasgow named among 'most popular' summer destinations

A picture-perfect village just an hour from Glasgow has just been named one the top trending travel destinations for the UK by Tripadvisor.

It seems that people are keen to enjoy the beauty of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, with Balmaha named in the top 5 travel UK destinations this year, according to the top review site's Summer Travel Index.

The second Seasonal Travel Index of 2023 provides insight into travel demand this season (June 1 - August 31) and uses a combination of search and sentiment data to reveal insights into Brits’ travel plans this summer.

With a third set to embrace holidaying in the UK once again this year, the review site has put together a list of the top trending places in the UK people are looking to go to this summer and Balmaha placed fourth in the top 10.

The beautiful village, which is found on the eastern banks of the loch on the opposite side of Luss, is already a popular destination thanks to its idyllic location and close proximity to the ever-popular Conic Hill.

Loved by walkers this famous hill is often used by hikers thanks to its ease of accessibility, parking and stunning views of the lochs below.

The village itself is surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of the loch and is also home to the ever-popular Oak Tree Inn, a country pub and restaurant renowned for its wonderful food, welcoming atmosphere and the fact it also offers over 40 bedrooms for people looking to spend a little longer than an afternoon in this epic part of the country.

Fans of the legendary TV show Weir's Way, will also love the fact the village is home to a statue dedicated to the celebrated hiker and presenter Tom Weir.
