The Holiday's Jill Halfpenny shares 'unseen' reality of filming Channel 5 thriller

Jill Halfpenny has lifted the lid on the 'unseen' reality of filming The Holiday for Channel 5, ahead of the first episode airing on Tuesday night.

Having had viewers on the edges of their seats last year in The Drowning, another Channel 5 drama, popular Geordie actress Jill is back on screen, hot on the heels of her narrating Geordie Hospital, to lead The Holiday cast as mum and police detective Kate.

Jill's latest TV alias is intent on having a restful relaxing and drama-free trip to Malta with her family but things go awry as soon as they arrive at their idyllic villa, after Kate discovers some puzzling messages on husband Sean's phone and instantly assumes the worst.

While she is intent on finding out what Sean has been up to and which one of her friends he could have betrayed her with, Kate misses the fact that her daughter Lucy is being drawn to Jake, the mysterious and troubled son of one of her friends.

There has been a lot of hype surrounding four part drama The Holiday, ahead of its launch on Tuesday and, it was posting about it's debut, that lead actress Jill shared something that viewers won't pick up from the sun drenched scenes on Channel 5 - it was actually rather cold!

She posted one picture of her character in shot in a sleeveless top and another of the cast huddled together wearing coats, captioning then: "The Holiday begins at 9pm @channel5 tonight.

"Here’s 2 pics of the scene at the restaurant. Acting v reality. It was sooo cold."

One of her followers swiftly replied: "We've waited what seems like forever for this to air, so happy the time has finally come!"

Another told Jill: "So looking forward to seeing you on air tonight."
