The annual Guardian and Observer charity appeal telethon, staffed by some of our best-known journalists, is taking place on Saturday.
Polly Toynbee, John Crace, Marina Hyde, Zoe Williams and Jonathan Freedland are among the star names on the roster to take your calls.
Telethon phone lines will be open from 10am to 6pm on Saturday 14 December. To make a donation by credit or debit card, and have a chat with our journalists, call 0203 353 4368.
The appeal is in aid of victims of war and conflict. We are raising money for three charities: War Child, and Médecins Sans Frontières are international aid charities that provide frontline emergency medical care and specialist psychological support to the victims of war.
The third partner charity is Parallel Histories, a UK-based charity with a mission to bring divided communities together by helping schools teach sensitive and contested histories of conflict, from Northern Ireland to Israel-Palestine.
Other journalists on hand to take your donations are Peter Bradshaw, Gaby Hinsliff, Jess Cartner-Morley, Tim Dowling, Hugh Muir and Simon Hattenstone.
Médecins Sans Frontières is an international charity providing emergency medical care in response to conflicts, natural disasters and epidemics. Its thousands of doctors, nurses, medical support workers and logistics staff set up and run hospitals and clinics across the world, including in Gaza, Lebanon, Ukraine, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Haiti. Your donations will help fund the treatment of traumatic injuries such as burns, fractures and conflict wounds.
War Child is the only specialist charity for children affected by conflict. Working in some of the most dangerous parts of the world, it delivers emergency support, protection, education and more to ensure a safer, brighter future for the children it works with. Your donations will fund emergency aid, education and specialist mental health support to help children recover from the trauma of conflict.
Parallel Histories helps schools teach children about sensitive and contested conflicts, from Northern Ireland to Israel-Palestine. Your donations will help it to expand and develop its range of school partners, subjects and materials.
There has already been an amazing response from Guardian and Observer readers to this year’s appeal, with more than £350,000 donated in the week since it launched.
Katharine Viner, the Guardian’s editor-in-chief, writing in her column introducing the appeal, said: “We ask you to support the Guardian and Observer appeal in a spirit of optimism and defiance, as a signal of commitment to peace, human rights and social justice, and as a gesture of solidarity with the millions of people whose lives and livelihoods have been destroyed through war and violence.
Non-telethon donations can be made online by credit card, debit card or PayPal.
