The Grinch’s Cindy Lou Who star Taylor Momsen is unrecognisable 21 years after movie

Among all the saccharine sweet Christmas movies which flood the screens during the festive season, there is a little antidote to the never ending happiness with How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

The 2000 movie, starring Jim Carrey as the grouchy Grinch, is a telling of the Dr. Seuss tale which has become one of the season's classics.

Among the cast was Taylor Momsen, who played the delightful Cindy Lou Who as she set about trying to bring festive cheer to the Grinch.

The then seven year old child actor proved to be hit on the big screen as she went on to star in Spy Kids 2: The Island Of Lost Dreams, as well as playing the lead role in the 2002 version on Hansel and Gretel.

Taylor also played Jenny 'Little J' Humphrey in teen drama Gossip Girl.

After five years on the show, those days seem to be long gone now though as Taylor, now 28, dedicates her time to music and fronting punk band The Pretty Reckless.

For the past 11 years, Taylor has been a celebrated rock singer, who has delighted fans in recent months by announcing a new tour for the band, four years after they last played live shows.

It is fair to say that Taylor has undergone quite a transformation since her Cindy Lou Who days as she swapped the innocent look of braided hair for a peroxide look as she sings You Make Me Wanna Die and Going to Hell.

Taylor's Instagram is very much dedicated to her music and performing with her band, with one of the highlights being the video for new single '25', which is their first for four years.

Despite seemingly a world away from Hollywood, Taylor said that working on The Grinch planted the music seed which flourished over a decade later.

In a recent interview with Today, she revealed: "The Grinch was the first time I went into a recording studio," she told Today in a recent interview.

"I'll never forget walking into this beautiful studio with a massive console in front of me and putting headphones on and singing into a microphone for the first time.

"It was such an impactful moment in my life. It made me want to make music for the rest of my life. I love being in a recording studio."
