The Grand Tour trailer teases explosive car smash as Jeremy Clarkson watches on

The Grand Tour is back with its first post-lockdown special which sees the troublesome trio head to Scandinavia.

Judging by presenter Jeremy Clarkson ’s exciting new teaser trailer, fans should expect plenty of the team’s trademark thrills and spills.

Jezza is joined by co-hosts James May and Richard Hammond for another high-octane edition of the hit Amazon Prime show, which will be dropped on the streaming platform next month.

The A Scandi Flick special marks the first episode of the show’s fifth season, since the petrolhead trio departed the BBC ’s Top Gear.

In their first post-pandemic road trip, Jeremy, Richard and James head for the icy wastes of the Scandinavian Arctic Circle at the wheel of their three favourite rally cars – although, whether Jeremy’s choice is a rally car is up for debate.

The veteran TV presenters embark on a catastrophe-filled adventure that takes in Cold War submarine bases – frozen lake racetracks, ski resort chaos and a mighty crash which is teased in the trailer.

Jeremy, Richard and James drag their homemade houses from the coast of Norway to the Russian Border.

In the trailer, Jeremy kicks off proceedings by telling his fellow presenters: “We are here to drive across Europe's last great wilderness. Never once dropping below the Arctic Circle.”

Richard is then heard saying: “Get in trouble out here and we are a long way from anything.”

The trailer is packed full with a montage of motorhead antics as the trio tow small sleeping huts behind their cars – which in James’ case takes the form of an upcycled bus shelter.

The trailer teases drama in a bomb shelter-style underground tunnel, which sees the trio race their cars down the twisting corridor towards the end point: a wall, of which Jeremy says: “It is important you stop before this.”

A frightened Clarkson is then seen doing his speed test in his car, belting down the darkened tunnel as he frets: “Oh my God, the lights aren't coming on.”

Then, it’s James’ turn and Richard confirms he’s ready to go before Jeremy jokes of his infamously slow co-star: “I've got the deck chair out and a good book.”

However, a car is then seen careening towards the wall, with the final moment of dramatic impact cut from the explosive trailer.

In other scenes, the trailer promises the bread and butter Grand Tour larks between the trio, with Jeremy setting fire to his icicled car, Richard hurtling down a hill which ensconced in the bed of his hut and a vacant car ominously submerged in icy water.

The Grand Tour presents: A Scandi Flick launches on Prime Video on September 16.
