The good, great and ghastly looks at the Grammys 2025: Bianca Censori, Beyoncé and Sabrina Carpenter

All aboard the party limo to Los Angeles’ “Crytpo.com” arena, where music’s great and good gathered on Sunday evening for the 2025 Grammy Awards.

The industry’s biggest night was held this year in the shadow of the LA fires, which ravaged the area in California for 24 days earlier this year. It was inescapable on the night: celebrities on the red carpet smiled in front of a black wall which read “Musicares, fire relief” asking people to “Please Donate at GRAMMY.com/FireRelief

It set the tone for what was a relatively pared back Grammys red carpet; an event which usually involves a great deal of peacocking (from Lady Gaga arriving inside an egg, in 2011, to Cardi B coming as a real-life Botticelli's The Birth of Venus, wearing vintage Mugler, in 2019).

There was one blaring peacock, of course: winner of the prize for most shocking. There can be no doubt Bianca Censori took home that award, as she peeled off her black fur coat to reveal the naked “dress” to end all naked dresses — a tank-neck mini which appeared to be made of little more than transparent fishing wire, and worn without underwear, as her husband Kanye West, in a black tee and trousers, looked her up and down.

All black was the most dominant trend of the evening elsewhere, however, led by Lady Gaga in a gothic, lace-up leather bustier top and crinoline skirt by Samuel Lewis. Olivia Rodrigo, Miley Cyrus and Raye all opted for more body-conscious black column dresses.

Gong for the hottest look went to Charli XCX, who wore a custom Jean Paul Gaultier chiffon gown by guest designer Ludovic de Saint Sernin from a catwalk collection which only took to the Paris runway on Thursday, while Sabrina Carpenter opted for a sapphire, satin and feather trimmed dress from JW Anderson. Chappell Roan did well to stand out, too, in a blue and yellow tulle Jean Paul Gaultier SS03 Couture look, while Beyoncé skipped the red carpet altogether, but certainly made an impact with her golden embroidered custom Schiaparelli gown complete with matching opera gloves as she collected the album of the year Grammy Award for the first time.
