When that big yellow ball in the sky finally making a decent appearance, and the summer on the way, it's time to start planning those all-important beach trips.
While Edinburgh already has some plum choices, a short trip east to East Lothian in the car or by train could be even more rewarding, with some cracking wee hidden gems waiting to be unearthed and discovered.
In fact, there is one beach just under an hour's drive away that's regularly dubbed one of the 'finest in the South of Scotland', that is sure to be worth the extra effort to get to.

Found close to Dunbar, Tyninghame Beach can be a bit of a walk from the nearest car park but boy is it worth the effort.
Also known as Ravensheugh Sands, this golden stretch offers plenty of space to run around and is ideal for warmer weather picnics with the family or wanders with the dogs.
This beautiful setting, which is often far less crowded than other beaches in the area, has even featured in TV and Film and was most recently used in Outlander.
The nearby village of Tyninghame offers a few spots to refuel after a long walk, or a short drive to East Linton or Dunbar will reward you with even more enticing options.
