The Glasgow park ideal for walkers with its own Paris-style lovelock bridge and waterfall

With the weather getting a little brighter (and dare we say warmer) it's time to start considering getting outside a bit and enjoying all of the green spaces the city has to offer.

Heading to the southside there is one exciting park in particular in Glasgow that offers more than most, including a garden centre, cafe and even a Paris-style lovelock fence.

Rouken Glen Park, which lies close to the leafy suburb of Giffnock (and its exciting range of pubs and cafés), is ideal for a wander in a wide open green space, with plenty of play parks for entertaining the kids.

Wide paths and open grassy areas are ideal for taking the dog, while the garden centre offers plenty of opportunity for perusing the plants, homeware and garden furniture as well as enjoying a quick spot refuelling in the café.

And that's not all, alongside the Boating Pond – where you can grab a coffee and a wee 99 if it's warm – you'll find a pretty impressive waterfall and even a romantic Paris-style lovelock bridge (just be sure to add your own to the specially provided structure next to the actual fence as rangers are keen to safeguard the bridge itself).

Having grabbed an obligatory selfie with your significant other you can then take a wander through the park's more natural trails, which wind their way alongside the river or headlong to explore the walled garden or even the small wildlife garden which is perfect for kids where you'll find a pond filled with tadpoles and frogs.

Ideal for a wee day out, you'll even find regular events appearing such as the exciting Foodie Festival – with top acts like Scouting for Girls and Callum Beattie – heading there in August for a packed weekend of food and drink fun.
