The Glasgow hip-hop podcaster aiming to get slim shady Eminem on his show

A Glasgow podcaster is aiming to get rap star Eminem to appear on his show.

Danny McFarlane, 32, runs a hip-hop podcast called 'Mainly Eminem' along with some friends and has managed to gain a massive following and has reached audiences in 125 countries worldwide.

Danny works full-time at a car company in Glasgow and hopes to one day be able to quit his job and pursue his dream.

He told Glasgow Live: "We actually initially started in 2017 as a media fan page on Twitter and ended up with around 30,000 followers.

"We were totally devastated when the account got hacked in June of last year, but we were well known enough in the scene that we were able to start again.

"With the new account, we thought we'd try out a Twitter audio show and did a show on last year's Superbowl half time show which was headlined by Eminem, Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar and Mary J Blige. It was basically a pre-hype show discussing what to expect and talking about the performers themselves."

The show gained over 3000 listeners and received rave reviews on Twitter, which is when Danny and his friends decided to go for it and launch a proper podcast.

He added: "We officially aired in July of last year and are now sitting at 9 episodes in all. Our show has reached listeners in 125 countries worldwide.

"Special guests have included a hip hop music producer from New York and a rapper from Detroit who has ties to Eminem. I’m currently in negotiations with Glasgow rapper Bemz to appear on our show soon and we’re also aiming to secure people from Shady Records.

"I've been into hip-hop since I was about 10 and Eminem was the first person in that genre I really encountered, it would be a real dream to get him on the show and it does feel like we're closer than we've ever been."

Danny's podcast 'Mainly Eminem' can be found on Spotify, Apple and Amazon, with the next episode featuring a review of the Slim Shady LP set to air next Thursday, February 23.
