The free agents Arsenal can still sign after deadline day to boost Premier League title hope

The conclusion of the January transfer window hardly ends the talk of incomings and outgoings. It is almost the start of the next phase of conversation.

This is when the talking has to stop and the performing has to take centre stage. Despite Arsenal's work being underwhelming when compared to what it could have been - Mykhailo Mudryk and Moises Caicedo would have gained more attention and built up more excitement - they have made shrewd signings.

Jakub Kiwior is a promising defender, Leandro Trossard is a valuable attacking asset and has already looked impressive in his early days in red whilst Jorginho is an experienced Champions League and European Championship winning midfielder. They each have defined roles and can continue to develop under the tutelage of Mikel Arteta.

The window is never really shut though. Attention turns to the summer where Caicedo will once more be in the mix for a big money move and Arsenal, almost certainly with Champions League football and perhaps a lot more than that to lure players in, will be front and centre.

Their current stance in the world game is as good as any given the atmosphere at the club, the youth injection, motivation of the squad and transfer business previously. It's not a hard sell.

Should Arteta look for players to come in and bolster his title charge before the end of the season though there is still a chance. Although no new transfers can be registered for contracted players elsewhere, free agents can move clubs at any time of the year.

Here's a couple players from that list that could be looked at.

Isco

It's not 2014 anymore but there is still an unknown magnificence surrounding Isco. The former Malaga and Real Madrid star is 30 now and without a club after leaving Sevilla in December. His move to Union Berlin fell through towards the end of the window which was a shame considering it would have been one of the deals to watch.

He has a bit of the Mario Gotze aura around him and could yet be a player to watch. With his undeniable ball skill and touch, Isco might be able to work alongside Martin Odegaard to get the final glorious chapter of a career that fizzled out too quickly. Perhaps this one is a bit of a pipe dream.

Sime Vrsaljko

Free agent lists are often a window into the past and Vrsaljko is no different. In 2017 he was a sought after player for several top clubs. At Atletico Madrid he excelled as a disciplined full-back and went on to play in Croatia's World Cup run in 2018.

He moved on a series of loans and ended up at Olympiacos before being out of contract last month. With Cedric leaving to join Fulham on loan, Vrsaljko could be an option if Arteta needs some support at right-back.
