The four players you probably forgot are still at Manchester United

Erik ten Hag named two goalkeepers on the bench against Fulham and that highlights Manchester United's lack of squad depth.

That is not the first occasion Ten Hag has named two 'keepers on the bench this season either and the Dutchman will be keen to bring in more of his own signings in the summer, while he will also be aware that others will need to leave the club.

Although there is a lack of squad depth, there are some players at United that you might have forgotten were still at the club.

So, the MEN have taken a look at four players you might have forgotten were still at United.

Teden Mengi

Manchester-born Teden Mengi, 20, was earmarked as a leading talent in the academy from an early age and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer handed him his senior debut against LASK in the Europa League in August 2020.

The future seemed bright for Mengi, but football has been cruel to him since his debut, with the defender having to deal with multiple injuries, which saw his promising loan spell with Derby County cut short at the end of the 2020/21 season.

Although Mengi made yet another strong impression at Birmingham City on loan last season, history repeated itself and the loan was cut short again due to a recurring hamstring issue, which denied him the opportunity to gain more first-team experience.

Mengi is now back to full fitness, he's played for the U21s in recent weeks and he is expected to leave on loan in January.

Brandon Williams

Brandon Willams, 22, was on loan at Norwich last season and he returned to the club hopeful of pushing Diogo Dalot at right-back, however, he missed the entirety of pre-season through injury and his fitness issues have continued into the campaign.

The academy graduate was recently close to a return, but he remains sidelined and wasn't in the matchday squad against Fulham.

Williams' contract expires in the summer of 2024.

Phil Jones

Phil Jones' last game for United was against Tranmere in the FA Cup in 2020 until Ralf Rangnick played him against Wolves in January earlier this year. The centre-back performed well in that match at Old Trafford but he's made just one appearance since.

That appearance came against Liverpool in a heavy defeat at Anfield in April and Jones was substituted off in that match. There has been Championship interest in Jones across the last few years and he's now in the final year of his deal.

Axel Tuanzebe

Another academy graduate, Axel Tuanzebe was loaned to Napoli last season but that spell in Italy was a disaster for the player.

Napoli bizarrely decided to leave Tuanzebe out of their squad for the Europa League just shortly after he made his move to Naples and he made just two appearances for the club across six months, playing a total of 130 minutes.

Tuanzebe travelled with the first-team on the pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia in the summer, but he's not played a single minute this season due to injury.

The 25-year-old's contract at United expires in June.
