The four Chelsea players stuck in limbo at Stamford Bridge after failed January transfer exits

The January transfer window is officially shut, meaning that clubs are left with their squads for the remainder of the Premier League season. Chelsea were the busiest of the sides out there, adding eight new signings to their squad with over £200million spent in the market.

It has seen the Blues add considerable strength to their squad for the present and the future, though it remains to be seen exactly how everyone will gel on the pitch. There's also the balancing act of exits that needed resolving too, with Jorginho one of a few to leave.

That's not to say everyone got clarification over their future though, with a number of stars stuck in limbo for the latter half of the campaign. With that said, here's a look at four of those that are stuck after failing to secure an exit.

Hakim Ziyech

Hakim Ziyech was a player heavily touted with a move away from Chelsea this month, having struggled to feature regularly since his arrival. It seemed as though that wish had been granted as a deadline day deal had been agreed with PSG to switch on loan for the remainder of the season.

It wasn't to be for the winger though as a mix of administrative errors from Chelsea meant that PSG were unable to register the transfer and resulted in a stay at Stamford Bridge.

Christian Pulisic

In a similar vein to Ziyech, Christian Pulisic is another winger that has struggled to make it at Chelsea despite the high profile switch. The USMNT international has struggled for regular minutes and the addition of other forward options throws up questions surrounding his future.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has often been a useful squad player for Chelsea, able to play in a whole host of positions and with a skillset that many others don't have. However as the academy graduate enters his peak, there will be queries as to whether he will settle to be that rotational option or if he can make that switch to become a main player elsewhere.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Unless you're of an Arsenal persuasion, few would have wanted Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's return to the Premier League to play out the way it has so far. His move to Chelsea seemed to fit, with the side's need for a striker and the relationship he built with then-manager Thomas Tuchel.

Fast forward slightly and the German manager is dismissed and Aubameyang is nothing more than a bench option at best for the side. His only other destination could have been Barcelona, due to registration rules, but they never came calling back and an uncertain few months lay ahead of the striker.
