Episode Eight - Thursday, May 23: The final pairs reached the end, but only one of them could check out of the hotel with the fortune case - a devilish twist was revealed and it was every pair for themselves going into the dramatic final, a cunning riddle must be decoded in a Room Service game, and the climactic Day Trip Challenge saw guests locate a speedboat and raced to escape a tropical island to make it back to the hotel first.
The Fortune Hotel winners
Jo-Anne and Will were crowned the winners of The Fortune Hotel. The mother and son duo bagged a whopping £210,000 cash prize and decided to donate £5,000 of their winnings to fellow contestants Samm and Aysha, so they could go on holiday and spoil their children.
Who is the host?
The Split and Pointless star Stephen Mangan was the resort's manager who welcomed 10 pairs of holidaymakers to The Fortune Hotel.
They hoped that, by the end of their stay, they would be leaving with a golden glow and £250,000 cash.
How does the game work?
As they arrived at The Fortune Hotel, our 10 pairs were each given a briefcase - and only they got to learn what was inside.
"Eight cases have nothing in them, one holds the cash and the remaining case contains the Early Checkout card - end the day with that and you’re going home," explained Stephen.
"All our pairs are trying to stay at the hotel while working out where the cash is and the goal is to be the couple at the end holding that case. If they are, they win a life-changing sum of money."
Each episode, our ‘Fortune Holders’, ‘Fortune Hunters’ and ‘Unfortunates’ tried to unravel the ‘Whogotit’ mystery by playing the Day Trip Challenge. Where they placed in the challenge would determine their order in the nail-biting case swap in the hotel’s Lady Luck bar later that night. Who was holding the fortune? And who was destined for an early checkout?
