The 'Fortnite' Cube Is Now Moving, Here's Where It's Probably Going

Fortnite

Earlier today I asked a whole bunch of questions about Fortnite’s new mystery cube, one them being whether or not CUBE would be moving around the map.

And it didn’t even take a full day for that to be answered.

CUBE is now moving, but not in the way I thought. I figured since it just showed up out of the blue, it might end up teleporting somewhere else to start broadcasting shields in a new spot. But instead of teleporting, CUBE has instead just moved a few feet, tipping over to move one “square” in a northwest direction off the mesa.

You can see what this looks like above, but if you want to see a video of the moment CUBE started to move, you can watch that below.

So, what does this mean? I already have an idea about where CUBE is going on the Fortnite map.

Judging by the trajectory of CUBE’s movement, I think we might be seeing it blazing a (very slow) path toward Salty Springs. As you can see on the map, Salty Springs is the closest named area to the direction CUBE is now moving:

You can also see this even more clearly when dropping on CUBE from the bus. That city at the top is Salty Springs, and it appears to be right in CUBE’s path.

While I don’t know if CUBE will keep up this slow pace, but we have just about four weeks until we reach the end of a season. So about 26 days, not counting today. What happens if CUBE moves 26 more times? Please enjoy my very rudimentary photoshop of this scenario:

That’s about 20 cubes, but it’s probably a little more than that since I didn’t shrink them for the perspective of the drop, and also I probably spaced them out a little more than I should if CUBE is just turning on its edge. But yes, that’s about four weeks of CUBE movement, so the math adds up for a final destination of Salty Springs if this pace is kept up.

Why Salty Springs? We have already heard rumors of weird things happening there like dinosaur noises during the rift lightning strikes. It’s where all the Stone Heads are looking as we found out in last week’s challenge. It also remains one of the more boring areas of Fortnite, just a pretty dull subdivision that doesn’t really warrant its own named area. But when CUBE arrives? Who knows what it could be transformed into. It could be ground zero for…something, and become the next Dusty Divot for season 6.

I am pretty confident in my “where is CUBE going?” theory, but I am open to further suggestions. It seems like we should keep an eye out for CUBE’s movement every day at around 5-6 PM ET to see if it sticks to this pace. If it speeds up it could end up anywhere. I am also curious to see how CUBE handles obstacles that get in its way like rocks, trees, cliffs of buildings. I’m guessing CUBE can climb and crush whatever it wants.

Behold, CUBE is coming:

ALL HAIL CUBE

Update: A new leak suggests that perhaps CUBE may be going a shorter distance, perhaps just down the hill to the lake by the mesa. It might get there in less than a week, if so. It is an awfully long road to Salty, I suppose, but we’ll see if it makes a turn soon enough.
