Ex-Lover Island star, Sharon Gaffka, who appeared on the ITV2 show's seventh series last year, has revealed one of her long-term goals is to run for parliament. Speaking to Lorraine Kelly on her morning talk show, the 26-year-old former Miss International-UK pageant queen, who is leading a campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of drink spiking and this year will be competing for the title of Miss Universe Great Britain, spoke of her desire of becoming an MP.
She said of her reasons behind this goal: "I think one thing is, with parliament at the moment I find that young people are very much overlooked because they don't have very many young voices in there that understand the same problems that young people are facing now.

"It's really hard to be able fix something when you have no idea about [it]. And for me, I want to put a massive emphasis on protection of women, young people's education and making sure that young people are afforded the same opportunities that my parents were really fortunate to have. You know, Covid's put young people very much on the back foot, in terms of even things like driving and passing their driving test."
She added: "And I want to make sure that we don't leave them behind and that they don't struggle in the future as a result of it."
The Love Island influencer, who also runs a blog about politics, health and relationships called The Politically Incorrect, took to her Instagram soon after appearing on the show to discuss her running for Miss Universe and long-term goals.
She said: "During my interview with @lorraine, I shared that this weekend I will be competing for the title of @missuniversegreatbritain and why I think platforms like this are still relevant. I want my campaign work to be at the forefront of what I do. But I want to share a couple of reasons as to why I chose to ‘come out of retirement’ (those that get it, get it)."
She continued: "When I considered my long-term goals, running for Parliament; dream brands/organisations. Things that I’m working on. I want to be able to give it the biggest and most widespread platform I physically can. In 2018, @deeannkentishrogers was the first black women to ever wear the GB sash at miss universe and is now a Member of the House of Assembly of Anguilla."
