Israeli Judoka Tohar Botbul defeated U.A.E Judoka Rashad Al Mashgari in a match in the under 73 kg category this Friday only to be snubbed by Mashgari who refused to shake his hand afterwards.

Botbul went ahead to win a series of matches ending with a bronze medal win.

His victory is one of a series of wins made even more impressive when considering that the Israeli team has been barred from presenting any Israeli symbols during the competition and instead wears the symbol of the International Judo Federation.

In an interview to Channel 10 news Botbul said that he is "proud to represent the country, with a flag, without a flag [that] doesn't matter."

Israeli Judoka Tal Flicker, who won the gold on Thursday, was recorded singing the Israeli national anthem despite the Abu Dhabi event staff playing a recording of the IJF instead.
