It has been a rough year so far for MLB umps because, well, most of them have been really bad at their jobs this season.
We’ve seen terrible called strikes, childish antics while throwing somebody out of a game, and so much more bad stuff that should embarrass MLB boss Rob Manfred.
This call last night in Atlanta is easily one of the worst calls I’ve seen in quite some time. Braves left fielder Adam Duvall hit into a fielder’s choice in the seventh inning and was called out at first even though he easily beat the throw.
I mean, this wasn’t even close:

That’s ridiculous.
Here’s the whole play:

The play was reviewed and Duvall was ultimately ruled safe but that play shouldn’t have had to be reviewed. It was so obvious that he was safe.
That’s just embarrassing for the ump.
Twitter agreed.
