The Atlanta Falcons somehow pulled the exact opposite of an Atlanta Falcons.
As it sure looked like the Falcons were about to fall to 0-2 after a hard-fought loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night, Atlanta pulled something inexplicable out of thin air and fired off a long drive right at the end of the fourth quarter that was capped by a Drake London touchdown from Kirk Cousins.
The final drive was in part given to the Falcons by the Eagles after Saquon Barkley missed a third-down catch that would’ve iced the game for Philly, with the moment before that missed catch giving Atlanta a 1-percent chance to win.
Well, the Falcons defied literal franchise history and flipped the script right at the last minute on the London touchdown drive to get within position to win.
Jessie Bates III picked off Jalen Hurts right at the end to seal the Falcons victory.
Yahoo! Sports’ Nate Tice shared a graph that showed just how much the odds turned over for the Falcons win.

The Falcons have a lengthy history of absolutely devastating blown leads, so for this team to push back at the last second to get an absolutely critical victory feels like this really might be a new day for Atlanta.
