The exact time Asda, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and M&S put out 'yellow sticker' reduced foods

As the cost of living crisis rages on, families across the country are struggling to make ends meet.

Food costs have risen significantly and six in ten people have noticed prices soar, according to a YouGov poll.

Loans, credit card and mortgages company Ocean Finance has issued a number of tips to feed your family for less - including the best times to visit Asda, Sainsbury's and other supermarkets to grab "yellow sticker" bargains, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Food items are often reduced throughout the day, but there are better times to shop if you want to make some big savings.

These are the specific times to visit supermarkets to bag a bargain:

  • M&S – An hour before closing
  • Morrisons – 6pm
  • Sainsbury’s – 6pm
  • Asda – 7pm
  • Waitrose – 6pm

According to the Money Advice Service, people who make a list are three times less likely to overspend than those who don’t.

Get your pen and paper out (or use your phone) and jot down everything you need for the week ahead.

Plan it down to a tee, including ingredients for each meal you plan to cook. It’s important to stick to your list and avoid throwing in any extras, to avoid splurging.

Ditching brand name items could also save you some pounds.
