The Everything is Black & White Podcast - The Match Preview: Manchester City (A)

Newcastle United travel to the North West this weekend to take on Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s side will be looking to bounce back from their extra-time exit to Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The Magpies are all but safe but that doesn’t mean the players have laid down their tools - especially given most are fighting for their futures. The Magpies have had a unique chance to impact the Premier League title race having faced both Liverpool and now City.

United lost to Liverpool one-nil at St James’ Park but gave a good account of themselves, and will be hoping to get a better result against City. Guardiola’s men currently lie top of the Premier League table but could start the game against Newcastle in second place if Liverpool beat Tottenham on Saturday evening.

In this week’s The Everything is Black and White Podcast, Andrew Musgrove and John Gibson discuss the game against City. Predicting the outcome of the game, Gibbo said: “My head tells me City will still win because they will get together over the next few days and say ‘this is the last title we can win this season and for players of our ability to end up with nothing is a disgrace, and we’re not going to allow it.’

“If City do win, I think it’ll be like the Liverpool game; close, and Newcastle can hold their heads up high. My heart tells me Newcastle are going to get a draw.”

In this episode, the pair also discuss the return of Callum Wilson to the squad, the belief (for Gibbo, anyway) that Chris Wood will start against City, as well a brief chat on Gatshead’s title-winning season.
