The Emmys 2023: nominations, show date and everything we know about the annual Emmy TV awards

Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni at the Emmys

The Emmys 2023 mark the 75th anniversary of the awards show that honors the best of the best on primetime TV, including dramas, comedies, reality TV, limited series and more.

Which of your favorite shows will be competing for a trophy in TV's equivalent to the Oscars? We'll have to wait and see, but here’s just about everything you'd want to know about the Emmys 2023.

Emmys 2023 date

The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards are scheduled to take place on Monday, September 18 at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT.

At this time, we do not have any indication that the Emmys will not be taking place on that day. However, after the Daytime Emmys were postponed from their planned June 16 date because of the ongoing writers' strike, there is the possibility that the primetime Emmys could do something similar if the strike lingers. But again, there's been no hints that will be the case as of right now.

Emmys 2023 channel

The Emmys typically rotate between the four major US networks — ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC — and for 2023 the rotation has landed on Fox to air the awards show.

Where are the Emmys held?

The 2023 Emmys are taking place at the Microsoft Theater at LA Live in downtown Los Angeles.

Emmy 2023 nominations

For TV shows to be eligible for 2023 nominations, they must have aired between June 1, 2022, and May 31, 2023. That means shows that premiered way back in summer 2022 like The Bear season 1 and Andor season 1 as well as ones that just wrapped up like Succession season 4 and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 5. It also means that Better Call Saul season 6, which debuted the second half of its final season after June 1, 2022, is still eligible for Emmys this year.

Here is a list of nominations from some of the most buzzed about categories at this year's ceremony. You can look at the full list of Emmy nominees for 2023 on The Emmys website

Emmys 2023 host

No host has been announced for the Emmys 2023 as of yet. Typically, the networks like to get one of their stars to host the show in a bit of cross promotion, so someone like Joel McHale from Fox's Animal Control could be a possibility (we're just spitballing). We'll update this section when a host is announced.
