Whether you're a meat eater, vegetarian or vegan - and whether you prefer a bustling pub or a  quiet meal, there is really something for everyone.

And one way to choose your favourite is to see what other diners around Bristol think.

To save you the hassle, we have taken a look at review site Tripadvisor to see where users of the site rate best - and why.

So read on to find out the best Sunday roasts in Bristol, according to Tripadvisor users.

The Clifton

16 Regent St, Bristol BS8 4HG

Combining the British pub hospitality with individuality, character and quirky charm, The Clifton has the perfect setting for a laid-back yet distinctly memorable Sunday roast experience.

The pub rests in the heart of the Bristol village suburb amongst the 18th century terraces and independent boutique shops.

The Spotted Cow Bristol

139 North St, Bristol BS3 1EZ

The traditional, yet elegant pub is found in Bedminster. Although it rests on a quiet street, the charming and friendly staff make up for it. And of course, so do their Sunday roasts.

One reviewer said: “The food was amazing. The meat was cooked to perfection. The Yorkshire puddings were huge, one of the best Sunday lunches I've had - fab 10/10.”

The Love Inn

84 Stokes Croft, Bristol BS1 3QY

In the midst of the vibrant and electric Stokes Croft lays the popular strictly-techno nightclub, The Love Inn.

But don’t be fooled because by day, the groovy dance floor seats about 35 people that are ready to have a full Sunday roast accompanied by a couple drinks and the continuing tunes from the previous night.

One reviewer said: “The Sunday menu on offer is excellent with a choice of roast spiced beef, turbo island chicken (no special brew included) or the v option veggie haggis.

"Most of the table couldn't help but order the turbo island chicken, I went for the beef and a friend also had the haggis. All of which were served with large frisbee shaped Yorkshires, skin on roasters and then sharing trays of spiced shredded veg, carrot and swede mash and big glass pots of gravy were brought out.

"All the food was excellent and a little different, a lot of rich spicy flavours and clearly a lot of thought put in."

The Barley Mow

39 Barton Rd, St Philips, Bristol BS2 0LF

If you wish to have a quieter Sunday roast, in a more traditional setting, we would suggest to head down to The Barley Mow’s flagship pub. A cozy spot, where one could then enjoy a 5-minute walk alongside Bristol’s river.

One reviewer said: “A group of us went here for Sunday lunch on the 13th of may really nice pub and it was busy with nice garden. I had the roast beef and the others had chicken and ham but I have to say how good the presented it was and really good my roast was yummy and tender and hot and my friend had the steak and ale pie and he said how tender it was and the pastry, you can tell it’s homemade."

The River Grille

Prince St, Bristol BS1 4QF

The graceful British restaurant offers one of Bristol’s best Sunday roasts. In addition to an exquisite meal, you will not be disappointed by the restaurants harbourside view through its glass wall.

“The restaurant is beautiful with a stunning view of the harbourside. Jan was very attentive and looked after us during our visit. He was friendly and engaging and made us feel welcome.

"We were there for the Sunday roast, and the beef was cooked to perfection, quite possibly the best roast of my life. All of the staff were friendly and coordinated so we were never waiting around for anything.”

The Pipe & Slippers

118 Cheltenham Rd, Bristol BS6 5RW

The delightful and intimate pub has just the kind of British/Med food one would look for, when looking for a Sunday roast. You have the choice of enjoying the lively outdoor seating, or join the charismatic staff inside.

“I defy anyone to find a pub or even restaurant that does a better Sunday roast. Had roast lamb in garlic & rosemary. Classic! Veg (5!) all cooked to perfection, lovely roasties and a yorkshire which is crisp on outside and soft inside . Rare visitors to Bristol but never miss it, and neither should you!”

The Botanist

20 Berkeley Square, Bristol BS8 1HP

The Botanist is a gorgeous, but casual, high-ceilinged Georgian conservatory and terrace that’s in the midst of the Clifton triangle. Here you can enjoy your Sunday roast in a window-ceiling, natural-lit gastropub.

“We've been regulars at the botanist for drinks for some time and thought we'd try it for a roast....such a good choice!! Impeccable service, fantastic choice of wines and the best roast dinner we've had in years.

There is a great selection of staters, the beef was cooked to perfection, my husband had the chicken which fell off the bone, and the vegetables were fresh and complimented the meal perfectly. I highly recommend it, very, very good meal.”

The Portcullis

3 Wellington Terrace, Bristol BS8 4LE

If you wish to have a scenic walk by the iconic Victorian Clifton Suspension Bridge, we would suggest going to the Georgian pub, The Portcullis. You will be pleased to know the local brewery-owned pub, with a courtyard beer garden, also specialises in real ales.

"The first time I had a Sunday Roast I had belly pork. Amazing dish, rich in flavours and with a piece of meat absolutely stunning: I can guarantee that many restaurants would kill to be able to serve a disk cooked like that."
